"We are not African because we were born in Africa, we are Africans because Africa is born in us"~Kwame Nkrumah
Inspired by this quote, I hope this signature unisex collection by us does exactly just that.creating an intimate ripple effect, celebrating our pride, our heriatge, our diverse beauty, art, culture and while connecting all citizens of Africa around the world together through Style.
MY PERSONAL STORY
"Every color of our bags has a deep meaning, and this color we call "Bone" was designed to bring an awareness to Albinism in Africa. It was designed to debunk the myths and taboos that surround our beautiful Black people who due to lack of education about their conditions and complexion, are discriminated upon in our society. Our mission is to help bring an awareness and bridge that gap in style. Producing these bags has been an incredible journey of perfection in imperfection; an intriguing tale spun by the finest of weavers, it seems. This Alkebulan Collection, branded as my signature brand-- a "never been done before" concept of an African map bag -- has taken me more than 4years to design, envisioning how it could be infused in our modern fashion and style. The most amazing part of this concept is the journey; the struggle and strive with a selection of artisans in Africa to bring this concept to life, so that we can say 'Made in the United States Of Africa'. Today it is more than a dream, we have challenged against the odds, we have proven our creativity in Africa. I hope this bag brings about a revolution and evolution of an African unity, whether Black, White or Mixed African around the world through style and pride... I'm Just a dreamer, who just made a dream a reality in our dream to pursue bigger dreams. Let's live it. "~ Archyn Orijin (Founder of Orijin Culture)
